A.O. Smith has developed a system which combines providing hot water and heating. Starting point for this system is a BFC, SGE or SGS, combined with a plate heat exchanger. The installation is controlled through an intelligent control system. The heat from the water heater is transferred through the plate heat exchanger to the central heating or underfloor heating. To achieve this heating capacity the water heater uses as little as 60% of its output. When an installation is installed with a SGE or SGS, solar thermal energy can be added, which reduces the use of fossil fuels.
Currently A.O. Smith is working on creating several Dual service modules. During the course of 2012 these will be introduced.
